Long term efficacy of gene therapy.....
Abina et al have reviewed the long term outcome after gene therapy in nine patients with x-linked severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID-X). Nine patients who underwent ex-vivo retrovirus-mediated transfer of gamma chain to autologous CD34+ bone marrow cells between 1999 to 2002 were assessed. Of these, 8 patients were alive after a median follw up period of nine years..
